Welsh Highland Railway

Set in the scenic and historic town of Caernarfon lies the Welsh Highland Railway.

This old, yet comfortable steam train will take you on a journey through the heart of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park where you’ll pass historical buildings, tall peaks and thick forests. On the Welsh Highland Railway you can enjoy a day out in style and comfort with at seat buffet service, snacks and refreshments, and locally brewed award-winning beers (to be consumed responsibly!)

As the oldest operating railway company, you would expect them to know how to make your journey enjoyable, and they do just that! Once you take this journey once, you’ll want to do it all over again. The Welsh Highland Railway is the UK’s longest heritage railway and it stretches out over 25 glorious miles past the foot of Snowdon, standing at a dominant 1,085 metres, past the rustic village of Beddgelert, through the beautiful Aberglaslyn Pass and finally through to Porth Madog.

The railway is open all year round to visitors excluding the months of November and December.
