Llyn Padarn railway is a lake railway set in the stunning mountainous area of snowdonia. The railway takes visitors on a 5 mile journey beside Llyn Padarn, Llandberis Lake, which is right in the heart of Snowdonia.
The thrilling journey takes you past Dolbadarn Castle which was built in the 13th century by Prince Llewelyn, across one of Britiain’s shortest rivers and of course, Llanberis’ twin lakes. From the Llanberis starter point, the train runs without stopping through the Padarn Country Park and then joins onto the old slate railway track. The old slate railway takes you along the coast of Llyn Padarn to the village of Penllyn from which you get wonderful views of Snowdon, the highest peak in England & Wales.
Along the journey, there is a quick stop at Cei Llydan, a remote feeling village that’s ideal for a quiet picnic. On this worthy stop you can visit The National Slate Museum, watch the driver tend to the locomotive engine, or have a deserved cup of tea and/or refreshments in the cafe.
The train is WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY as long as staff is informed before hand.
If you are visiting around the times of Christmas or Halloween, stay tuned on the official Llyn Padarn Railway website for exciting events!
